Man’s probation revoked over fatal shootout at his Oakland birthday party

OAKLAND A man has been jailed for allegedly firing a gun during a shootout that turned fatal at his th birthday party court records show Quazauy Waugh was charged with violating probation in a prior gun incident after police identified him as a suspected shooter in the March gunfire exchange that left -year-old William Robinson dead Waugh remains at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin and is next due in court in three weeks records show Waugh was celebrating his birthday on st Avenue in Oakland on the night of March when a group approached from another street and began firing at the residence police stated During the subsequent exchange of gunfire Robinson was shot and killed Police say Robinson had been seen at a Berkeley High basketball challenge earlier in the evening before heading to st Avenue where the party was taking place No one has been charged with murder in his death which remains under research But officials moved to violate Waugh s probation after reviewing surveillance footage from a nearby parked Tesla according to court records Police say Waugh matched the description of one shooter and that when they interviewed Waugh he reported he heard gunshots that night but claimed to have been too intoxicated at the time to have a clear memory of what happened government announced Waugh was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm in February stemming from a high menace traffic stop in Fremont police disclosed in court records He later pleaded no contest to a gun charge for a two-year probation term
